A trek to Mt. Abu

Located near the Gujarat border of Rajasthan is a beautiful mountain Mt. Abu.

It was a small break from our mundane office life and we wanted to go for a real good trip. We just connected with our friends tossed the chits in the air, and here we go... We booked a bus to Mt. Abu

We didn’t make any plan, but just picked our backpack and reached Mt. Abu in the afternoon.

We visited various hotels and lodges to experience the beauty of each hotel. We were connecting with the people there to understand the concept behind each hotel. The reason why they have selected a specific theme in their hotel. Places nearer to the particular hotel. All these things were never described on the hotel booking websites. Going to the places with the backpack and talking to the person there and making your choice based on your priority after screening the location is a different feeling.

After connecting with the locality, we selected a spot to book a hotel and met a tourist guide. We described our interest and he provided a perfect itinerary full of adventure and activities which filled our alleys. Our plan included caving, rock climbing, rappelling (on ancient rocks formed of lava), and trekking.

Caving - Trying to get in

Caving - Coming out

Rock Climbing

Rappelling

We enjoyed our time and instead of going to the sunset point where all tourist goes, he took us for a trek in the deep jungle and revealed the most mesmerizing sunset, we would have seen so far.

Experiencing on the edge

The experience of sitting at the edge of the mountain and watch the sun setting was surreal.

On our journey back to the hotel, we realized there is too much of a crowd which we would have never acknowledged in our trek and I wasn't even aware of this being the honeymoon spot 😉

The Mt. Abu Market

Evening was chilled, hustled, and colorful. As this was an on-the-go plan, we haven’t done our packing for warm clothes, and when we talk about the climate of Mumbai, it will never bring the slightest of thought to carry warm clothes.

It was chilling cold and walking around in the streets of hill station at 8 PM, gave us goosebumps. We took a walk in the busy market, checked out few warm clothes, and headed towards filling our tummy with the staple food of Rajasthan.

We had a hot delicacy of Rajasthan, which is " Dal Baati Churma". I can definitely say it was the tastiest Daal-Baati I ever had.

We took some comfortable warm clothes and started exploring the famous Mt. Abu market. With the unique bandhani sarees, artistic pottery, ancient swords, you will find everything here. We were completely lost in this beautiful place.

There is another attraction point of entire mount Abu, which is Nakki Lake which is located in the center of the mountains, and the flea was awesome, people in all colorful eye-catching dress-up getting their photo clicked wearing their traditional dress in photo booth and garden.

Next morning, we tried exploring Mt. Abu on our own.

Dilwara Temple

The next day, we took a rented scooter and visited the most artistically carved Dilwara Temple. It’s a Jain temple and is 2.3km away from the main market area of the hill station. No matter if you are a believer of God or not, the beauty carved in white marble, is worth admiring. There are 2 Jain temples opposite to each other and both had their own beauty. Both these temples hold great spiritual importance. Being a Jain, I have this craze to eat food in Jain bhojnalaya. And I must say Vidyasagar bhojnalaya serves tempting food at the bare minimum price. I loved it. Visited the tranquil Brahma Kumari’s Peace Park.

We took a bus in the early morning and headed to Udaipur, this is a closed place, full of Mahal (palace), Lakes, to pay a visit to from Mt. Abu, and you can cover the entire place in 2 days.

Mt. Abu is the nearest place outside Maharashtra to feel the cool, serene and amazing atmosphere.
